Cruciate Ligament

The knee joint is kept in balance and stabilized by active (muscles) and passive (ligaments, ligaments) structures. If one of these structures fails, instability can occur.

In a conversation with Dr. med. Matthias Schmied you will learn which treatment options are possible.

The cruciate ligament is an important, passive stabilizer of the knee joint, the movement is guided among other things by this structure. If the cruciate ligament tears (cruciate ligament rupture), this can mean a significant restriction in mobility in everyday life and in sporting activities.

Patients with proven cruciate ligament lesions and subsequent instability, qualify for minimally invasive cruciate ligamentoplasty.

After thorough clinical examinations and clarifications with X-rays and magnetic resonance tomography, inpatient treatment with intensive physiotherapeutic support follows.

The surgical methods we use are proven and state of the art (minimally invasive, all-inside). The results are extremely pleasing in everyday life as well as in top-class sport.
